Rich Levine

Rich has been inside the IT industry for 34 years; 10 years at Apple, 17 years in K12 IT as a Tech and in Senior Management, worked at a handful of startups, and the Superior Court of Napa County. With a B.S. in Environmental Conservation Biology, he focused on Mycology/Forest Pathology and wrote his senior term paper on the evolution of programming compilers through Algol, Modula-2 and Fortran. He has multiple Certificates in Project Management, Cisco Networking, Network Management, Apple Certified Support Professional. 24-year member of Bicsi (Building Industry Consulting Service International); was once an Apprentice network cabling installer. Besides IT, he served in the U.S. Forest Service on the Spotted Owl project running anadromous fish (salmon, steelhead) habitat surveys and helped run a Shiitake mushroom spawn farm in Pt. Reyes Station. He continues his interests as a member of the Mycological Society of San Francisco (MSSF) and the North American Mycological Association (NAMA) and has volunteered on mapping the Sudden Oak Death Syndrome (SODS) impact in Western Sonoma County. His father was a Veteran, a founding principal engineer of The Aerospace Corporation, and when he retired at age 88 from the Albion-Little River Volunteer Fire Department, was one of California’s and the Nation’s oldest acting Captain-EMTs.
