Boy Scouts of America Troop 48
Digital Literacy Eagle Scout Project
As Scouts in the Scouts BSA program advance towards the Eagle Rank, one of the final requirements is to complete a service project that helps a community organization and demonstrates leadership. One Scout in BSA Troop 48 in Tiburon collaborated with Digital Marin in efforts to expand digital literacy across Marin County.
Scouts with Troop 48 assisted in the project to produce a series of instructional videos. The topics were chosen based on a survey, which asked residents how comfortable they were with certain digital tasks and skills. Six topics were then selected for the project.
The Scouts completed the entire video production process: writing and practicing scripts, filming, editing and exporting, and submitting for review. With feedback from Digital Marin, as well as Scouts and leaders of BSA Troop 48, the videos were refined and finalized.
Transcripts to follow along with while you watch the videos can be found in the “Description” area of each video. The links to the videos are below. Clicking the links will take you from the Digital Marin website to the videos on YouTube.
